About Arosa - presentation, information, photos and recommendations
Arosa - luxury and naturalness united!
The famous spa and winter sports resort Arosa is located in the Schanfigger Valley at approx. 1,780 m and is both luxurious and natural. The diverse village is surrounded by a fascinating mountain landscape and forested slopes. Skiing is centred on the "Hörnli", "Weißhorn" and "Brüggerhorn" mountains. Here you will find all wishes catered for, nevermind if you are tall or small, beginner or expert, there is the right piste for everyone. Also the restaurants, bars and classy shops invite you in to spend a bit.
SkiThe idyllic ski region is found at approx. 1,780 - 2,653 m. A total of 13 modern lift systems allow for comfortable entry to the area with 70 kilometres of piste. The longest run is 4 km long and runs from "Weißhorngipfel" to "Prätschli". The ski area offers many easy and intermediate pistes, but the 1.5 km long FIS run is a challenge for experts. The crest of the "Tschuggen" is a good starting point for a ski day, as you can easily reach all corners of the ski area from here. The "Brüggerhorn" and the "Weißhorn" are deep snow/free ride paradises where you can really burn off some energy. A snow park with rails, tables and kicker awaits you at "Tschuggen". A half-pipe is located near the Sit lodge next to the "Tomeli" lift. The area offers a floodlit piste and the "Arosa Junior Club" for the little ones.
From the end of 2013 winter sports fans will then find more than only the pistes in Arosa available to ski on. The idea already spouted in the 1970's, however from the end of 2013 the connection between the ski areas Arosa and the closely located Lenzerheide will become reality. The connection will come into existence via the new Hörnli-Urdenfürggli lift. The Urden Valley, which was the main obstacle here, is now crossed easily. This results in the largest interconnected ski area in Grisons Arosa-Lenzerheide with 225 km of piste and 49 lifts. The ski area Lenzerheide (1,230 - 2,865 m) has the main advantage that the lifts are located both to the westerns and the eastern side of the valley. Winter sports fans therefore have a guarantee for sunshine.
In many mountain restaurants, free-of-charge wifi hotspots are at your disposal.
Wild parties are rather rare in Arosa, but you can certainly dance after a long day on the piste. The resort is especially comfortable due to the overnight traffic-ban, so you can leisurely go from bar to bar. The "Brügglie" and the disco "Nuts" are particularly well-known. If you prefer a quiet evening, you'll feel right at home in one of the numerous restaurants. Tennis, tobogganing, snow shoe hiking and ice climbing ensure sporty variety. A highlight is the horse race on ice.
The area offers a total of 30 km of cross-country and 12.5 km of skating track. A majority of the stretches is suitable for experts, as the trails are seldom flat. Exceptions are the circuit on the Obersee and near Isel. With 14 km, the "Panoramaloipe" is the longest and runs from the Prätschalp to Ochsenalp. 8 km of this stretch are high-altitude and offer gorgeous views. The Maran stretch is a 2 km long floodlit trail.
