General information
Brienz (2961 inhabitants) lies in the Bernese Oberland region on 577m above sealevel. The picturesque village is situated by the lake Brienzer See, embeded in an impressive alpine landscape. The mountains, the Ballenberg open-air museum and the Giessbach waterfalls are well worth visiting. Skiers, hikers and cyclists will enjoy the opportunities the region has to offer. Local tourist associations offer their guests a rich choice of entertaining activities. If you wish to explore Switzerland, you can go on an outing to Interlaken, Thun, Berne or Lucerne.

Summer resort
From June to September, there are numerous folklore events taking place. A trip on the only steem-driven cogwheel railway in Switzerland up to the Brienzer Rothorn mountain is a unique experience. Sports facilities include biking, rowing, swimming, windsurfing, hiking, tennis... Accompanied hiking tours, breakfast at the farm, guided village sightseeing, visits to the crystal caves or to an Alpine cheese dairy and much more are offered as well.
Winter resort
In winter there are various well-known skiing areas like the Axalp within easy reach. During the last decade Meiringen-Hasliberg has become well-known as a popular winter sports region. The 60km of slopes which are guaranteed to have lots of snow invite you to ski or snowboard. Sports highlights are offered with different big events such as alpine ski races, telemark as well as freestyle world championships. Fans of Nordic disciplines will find beautiful panoramic cross-country skiing tracks in Hasliberg Hohfluh, Bidmi, on Käserstatt, in Guttannen and Gadmen. In the winter sports region Meiringen-Hasliberg you will find well-maintained and interesting winter hiking paths.
