Davos - diverse alpine metropolis!
Davos is known as the highest located holiday, spa and congress city of Europe, as a Global Village and varied Alpine metropolis. The small but widely known Swiss town is located in the Canton of Grisons on an altitude of 1,500 m. The lively holiday resort offers wonderful, idyllic nature and a magnificent ski area which is especially well-known for its freeride possibilities.
The popular climatic spa and winter sports resorts amazes guests with beautiful Lake Davos, with attractive lifts up to 2,844 m and a modern winter sports centre. Various sports events also entice many visitors. For example, Davos is and has been location for the FIS Cross-country World Cup, the International Ice Hockey Spengler Cup as well as the O'Neills Snowboard World Tour or Switzerland's oldest ski race, the "Parsenn Derby". SkiThe "Davos Klosters Mountains" lift pass allows you to take advantage of absolute skiing enjoyment on around 279 kilometres of piste in the five ski areas Madrisa, Parsenn Davos Klosters, Jakobshorn, Rinerhorn and Pischa (excl. Schatzalp). At an altitude between between 810 and 2,844 m, pistes covering all levels of difficulty and 55 modern lifts provide a great deal of variety. In addition, there is the especially high snow security, allowing snow enjoyment into April!
A comfortable commuting gondola transporting 100 persons at once quickly takes you from Davos into the Jakobshorn ski area. A highlight is the 12 km long run from Weissfluh to Küblis with an altitude difference of 2,034 m! Furthermore, numerous first class freeride areas, illuminated pistes, and challenging black runs for pros are also to be found. Not only that, but the area is also a paradise for snowboarders: national and international competitions take place in the region's fun parks.
Especially worth mentioning is the Jakobshorn - a snowboard Mecca for years - with the Nidecker Monster Pipe. Floodlit half-pipes, kicker, rails and a boardercross with kicker can also be found in other areas - no wish goes unfulfilled! The Pischa area offers almost exclusively freeride terrain and is the largest of its kind in Switzerland.
On the easy pistes and practice areas at the Rinerhorn especially families will feel well-catered for. The broad pistes at Jakobshorn are very well suited for the whole family. At Bolgen at the foot of Jakobshorn, children can explore the fascination of skiing on a Disney-themed parcours in the children's ski school, while parents can enjoy the sun in one of the beach chairs. The children's area Madrise Land also attracts families with children.
The ski area offers about 20 Wi-Fi hotspots in mountain restaurants and gastronomical facilities.
Early birds also have the chance to enjoy untouched, freshly prepared pistes in the Parsenn ski area first thing in the morning before the area officially opens, all the while experiencing a gorgeous sunrise in the snow - the perfect start to a day of skiing!
According to the motto "from piste to party" you can experience aprés ski and party when and where you feel like it! In the ski area itself you will already find many sun terraces and snow bars to get going and down in the valley there is an even larger selection discos, night clubs, bars and pubs which are the ideal basis for a fun party evening. Go and visit the Jakobshorn, for example and see the popular party place "Davoser Bolgen Plaza".
Also if you are not skiing or boarding there are many things to do organise an entertaining day: e.g. the activity pool complex "Eau-là-là" with spa area, the Fäbri sports halls with tennis and squash courts and climbing wall, 96 km of winter hiking trails, toboggan run, the world's largest natural ice rink with 18,000 m², paragliding, a riding hall, horse-drawn sleigh rides and so much more!
If you are rather looking for cultural input, there is also a cinema centre, various museums (winter sports museum!) and numerous restaurants with local and international specialities, as well as a lovely shopping promenade.
In Davos is a real paradise for cross-country skiing. A total of 78, well taken care of km of await you, 48 km of which also suitable for skating. About 15 extra km are marked as special tracks for dogs, so that your beloved pet can come along. The modern cross-country centre in Davos has public dressing cabins, wax room, gastronomy and parking spaces.
An experienced cross-country skier's dream is the 24 (!) km long track from Davos via Mühle up to Sertig. On the high-altitude round course on Klosters Platz leading to Novai and Garfiun, only the fitter skiers should try themselves. A special service offered in Davos is the cross-country centre with showers, lockers and a waxing room. In the evening, you can enjoy approx. 2,5 km of flood lit tracks.
