About Nendaz - presentation, information, photos and recommendations
Quatre Vallées - the summit of amusement!
Set on a high plateau, Nendaz (1,400 m) has an incredible view of the Rhône Valley and the Alps. Several historic monuments are proof of over 1000 years of history, which the oldest village in the Quatre Vallées looks back on. In contrast to this history, Nendaz now offers the infrastructure of a modern winter sports destination with over 20 restaurants, around 20 cafés and bars, as well as four discos, numerous shops and cultural facilities. Before you go out on the town, we recommend a meal in one of these cosy restaurants. Spoil yourself with regional specialities, such as raclette or fondue and a good wine. To the joy of all winter sports fans, the lifts start directly on the edge of the resort and the bars are also within walking distance. Nendaz also bears the "Families welcome" award for it's family friendliness.
SkiThe lift pass "Printse" is valid for the areas Nendaz, Siviez (excl. Mont Fort), Veysonnaz and Thyon, with a total of approx. 220 kilometres of piste and 44 lifts. The pistes around Nendaz are quite manageable and therefore well suited for families. The area offers everything a winter sports fan may dream of: pistes of all levels of difficulty, endless deep powder snow slopes, boardercross and fun parks. On 3 evenings during the season the "Piste de Tracouet" and the "Piste de la Dent" are open for full-moon skiing! Beginners and children are well catered for: around the mountain station Tracouet and around the Lac Noir there are beginner areas and ski kindergarten and snow-tubing runs.
And if all this is still not enough, then you can find the perfect connection to the larger ski region here for unlimited skiing fun! Due to the connection of the ski areas Nendaz, Veysonnaz, Thyon und Verbier you can enjoy unbelievable 412 km of pistes over 3 mountains and 4 valleys. More experienced skiers are recommended to upgrade their lift pass to "4 Vallées" including Verbier and Mont Fort - a chance you should not miss!
Directly at the pistes, cosy huts offer specialities from Wallis as well as hot and cold drinks. Once you are down in the valley, you can lie back and enjoy the evening sun on one of the café's terraces. At night you can paint the town red in one of the several bars and night clubs. "Malabar", with its reggae flair, the "Cactus Saloon", with an outside bar, and the stylish "Tchin-Tchin" are especially hot.
Apart from skiing, the area also offers saunas, massages, fitness, horse-drawn sleigh rides, ice skating, heli-skiing, tobogganing, squash, badminton, and bowling. You can also take part in activities like night skiing, guest ski races, ski tours, and nightly snow-shoeing.
The 4 Vallées doesn't have as much to offer in the area of cross-country skiing as with alpine skiing, but the quality of the tracks is way in advance of the quantity! The stretches run through lovely winter landscapes at snow-sure heights. You can test your endurance on the 25 kilometres of cross-country track in Val de Bagnes, or go on a 5 km long panorama run at 2,200 m between Les Ruinettes and La Chaux. The selection of cross-country track is, however, not limited to these two stretches; rather, you can also ski the tracks in the resorts. Nendaz offers a total of 22 km of track and Veysonnaz over 5 km of track. The challenging stretches can be found near Bruson, whereas Nendaz offers the longest track at 6 km and also two charming high-altitude tracks!
