General information
Seelisberg with a population of about 613 people lies at 800m above sea level in the vicinity of Lucerne in the heart of Switzerland. Seelisberg is a charming village situated on a gently rolling mountainside which leads to the picturesque Vierwaldstätter Lake. This village is an insider tip for those considering a holiday on the Vierwaldstätter Lake. The small and beautiful township is a revered destination for Romantics, Naturists, and both Active and Inactive pursuits. The surrounding Forrests, open plains and idealic mountain lake with its naturally sandy banks - makes for a unique experience. A Boat ride on the Vierwaldstätter Lake is a MUST whilst culture buffs will enjoy a visit to the 'Rütli', the birthplace of the Swiss 'Eidgenossenschaft'.
How to get there
Seelisberg can be comfortably reached by car and is well connected to public transport.
by Car: Take the motorway A2, until the exit 'Seelisberg, Emmetten', from here it is approximately 12km to Seelisberg.
by Train: From Lucerne you will need to take the 'Luzern-Stans-Engelberg-Bahn' (LSE) to Stans where you can take a connecting Bus to Seelisberg.
by Aeroplane:
The nearest Airport is Zürich-Kloten.
Distances:Zürich ca. 110 km, Bern ca. 150 km and Munich ca. 400 km.
Summer resort
There is a lot to do in Seelisberg in summer from the many walking tracks such as 'The way of Switzerland', Family Safari 'Klewenalp-Seelisberg', Adventure track 'Raumplanung', the classical "Rutli' track as well as numerous forrest and plain walks all of which are well signaged and suitable for the whole family. In addition Seelisberg is also departure point for Boat trips on the Vierwaldstätter Lake and chairlift services to the famous mountain peaks of Rigi, Pilatus and Titlus. It is also departure point for road tours to the Alpine passes and Switzerland in general. Naturally one can also enjoy Tennis, Bike-ridding, Mountain-climbing and swimming in this beautiful summer resort.
Winter resort
The winter visitor can enjoy Skiing in the renowned Ski area of Klewenalp with its snow sure runs over 2000m above sea level and an amazing view over Vierwaldstätter Lake. The snow laden landscape in Seelisberg guaranties a romantic winter wonderland above the fog of lower lying regions and far from the stress of overcrowded ski runs and resorts.
