About EngelbergDetails and images of Engelberg

                Engelberg

Engelberg is located in the upper Swiss Alps at an altitude of approx. 1,050 m. The former monastery village has, over time, developed into a very popular winter sports destination, boasting perfect piste conditions. The Titlis, also known as “Mountain of Superlatives”, with its altitude of approx. 3,020 m, is popular among skiers and snowboards. The town's look is especially influenced by the monastery buildings as well as its art nouveau-styled hotels. After an unforgettable day on the pistes, guests can enjoy everything from the local cuisine to chic culinary treats. Sports fans will enjoy the diverse sports activities in addition to fun on the pistes. In winter 2012/13 Europe's highest located hanging bridge will opened. Experience the 100 m long and spectacular bridge construction from the mountain station at over 3,000 m altitude (access is weather dependent). The bridge is one metre wide, and hangs freely and offers an adventurous view down the 500 m deep gorge down the Titlis southern wall.
